Description
Nurses are very familiar with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) but student education records are different than patient health records. In the school setting, nursing documentation and health records are impacted by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, known as FERPA. This module will review FERPA and HIPAA and explore how School Nurses and student education and health records are impacted by these two federal laws.
