Bette Carr, MSN, RN, NCSN-E
Cofounder/Consultant
Bette Carr most recently was the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Nursing and Health Services Consultant. She held this position from 2012-2017. In that position, Bette was responsible for school nurse technical assistance and professional development. Answering questions from school nurses, as well as families, administrators and government officials required an in depth knowledge of both state and federal school health law.
While at DPI, Bette developed and completed many media programs for schools across the state for training purposes in medication administration as well as several nursing skills necessary to work with students with chronic health conditions.
Professional development programs included successfully attended New School Nurse Training programs and School Nurse Summer Institutes, where school nurses were able to learn best practices–programs on diabetes management, Wisconsin school health law, epilepsy and others.
Bette was a school nurse for the School District of Beloit for 20 years and has a wealth of hands-on experience in school nursing. Bette received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Marian University, Fond du Lac, and a MSN from Drexel University, Philadelphia.
Bette is a member of NASN, WASN and the National Association of State School Nurse Consultants. She was the WASN School Nurse of the Year in 2010. She continues to keep busy working on school nurse projects. Her expertise is school health law and providing consulting on how to set-up a successful school health program.
